JACQUELINE HERRANZ- BROOKS

Autobiographical, hallucinatory, harsh, terse, reflexive, precise and always unpredictable may well describe the works of Herranz- Brooks. Her texts are centered geographically and emotionally in the Cuba of the 1990’s as lived by her protagonists; young, sexual, lesbian, and always searching for something. Her book, Liquid Days, was published in Argentina by Tribal Song in 1997. Her short story “Intromisión abrupta de esos dos personajes,” (Abrupt Intromission of Those Two Characters) was included in the book Dream With No Name: Contemporary Fiction from Cuba (Seven Stories Press in 1999). She lives in New York City. Mujeres sin trama is her latest and most accomplished work.
