Paquita Suárez Coalla

Paquita Suárez Coalla was born in Oviedo, Spain. She holds a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from the University of Oviedo, Spain. Her dissertation, La literatura fantástica en la obra de Adolfo Bioy Casares (Fantastic Literature in the Work of Adolfo Bioy Casares), was published in 1994 by the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, where she served as a visiting professor for one year. She is currently a professor of Spanish and literature at Borough of Manhattan Community College (CUNY). She has numerous publications in literary criticism as well as a book of oral histories about rural women in Asturias titled *La mio vida ye una novela*. Paquita writes in both Spanish and Asturian.
