Gaeñ hia uh Betty Lyons Hill
Gaeñ hia uh Betty Lyons Hill is the president and executive director of the American Indian Law Alliance (AILA). During her time at AILA, Betty has been an advocate and activist for environmental issues, treaty rights, Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination, the history of women’s rights, and the Two Row Wampum. She has also spoken about the Doctrine of Discovery at a United Nations forum and about polishing the Covenant Chain with the United States as part of Canandaigua Treaty obligations.
Betty is a citizen of the Onondaga Nation (Snipe Clan) and has worked for the nation for 25 years, including as a member of the Haudenosaunee External Relations Committee and as a delegate to the annual United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII).
